Beginning thoughts…

I have many mixed feelings about leaving Keene State and moving on to new steps in my life whether they be more school or looking for a career. As of right now my plan is to graduate here this May and take some classes (hopefully online) while working as an emergency room tech and saving some money over the summer. I then plan to start a pre-medical post-baccalaureate program to help me eventually get into medical school. This has been my goal for a while, and it would really satisfy me to become a surgeon one day. My main concerns about this whole plan is doing well on the MCAT and if I have enough on my application to be accepted into a medical school. It is going to take a lot of hard work which I am not worried about but going through all of this work and not being accepted or not having enough to get me in would be hard for me to come to terms with.

I also fear leaving KSC and not wanting to do what I thought I did the whole time I was here, if I leave and realize I want to get a job and not go back to school. I have a job set up when I get home as an emergency room tech at a hospital near me, but this is not something I would do for a career job. If this were the case, I have other interest that my biology major can be applied to and hopefully I would be able to get myself out there and find some well-paying jobs.

Overall, I am very excited to graduate and move on in my life and keep moving towards my final goals. Of course, leaving all of the people I met here and leaving the “college life” will be hard but I believe I can make the adjustment and move on. Going to a bigger university for medical school has always been a dream of mine and I truly believe I can do that so picturing myself in that situation makes me hopeful for what is to come for me.
